Happy Memorial Day!

May has been one of the busiest months that I have had in years!  Even though it was a bad month for blogging it was a good month for my soul, social life, tan and getting my summer cottage in tip top shape for the summer.  The next few weeks are going to be just as busy with trips to Montreal and NYC for work, Graduations, Kayak Trips and general Tom Foolery...  Hopefully I will be a bit better about chronicling it all here for you all to see.

Hope you all had an amazing long weekend (in the U.S).  I celebrated my freedom (thanks to people like my Grandfather, Grandmother, Mom and many dear friends who have served in the Armed Forces) by doing what any good American does... YARD WORK (along with several LONG walks between Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven).  Please to enjoy (thanks to Instagram) my Memorial Day Weekend....

Rebuilding the balcony thanks to some AWESOME friends (and free labor)

Interesting garden decoration... a bit large for my taste, but I still love it

The weekend was just what I needed! Lots of R&R with family and friends.  Some good ole' fashion hard work to get the cottage ready for another crazy season.  Plus a fair amount of "me" time to reflect on all that I am blessed with!

I cannot wait to get back there.. It is truly where I am the most happy....

How did you spend your holiday weekend?

EVENT EVE & DIY Manicure

It is almost here!!!  Tomorrow I will join 5 other amazing ladies along with 1000s of men and women in Boston in the 2012 Boston Avon Walk For Breast Cancer!!!!!  I cannot believe over the past 6 months our team has raised close to $14,000!!!  Thank you all so much!!!

To get me in the mood for all things Avon I decided to finally take one of those pinterest boards off the computer and try it out in real life.  The outcome was good, but by no means perfect... It still looks like a drunk 5th grader was my manicurist but it will do!

My inspiration:

I tried out the Sally Hansen stick on manicure.. very easy to apply!  But a bit too much glitter for me...

I applied thin strips of painter tape to each nail (peels off easy and won't take the polish with it).

Then I applied 2 coats of this coral / pinkish polish from   Once dried, I peeled off the painters tape and applied a good layer of clear top coat and essie "good to go" speed drying top coat.

VOILA!  A fun, glittery manicure (I did clean up the edges a bit more after this photo)  I am very happy with this DIY experiment and am interested to see how long the Sally Hansen stick on manicure "sticks" my nails.  If I make it through the walk weekend I will consider it a success!

Ok, off to finish the work day and then EVENT EVE!!!  Cannot wait to kick off my 5th Avon Walk!  If you are in Boston this weekend come cheer us on!  You can find cheering station locations here:

Have an amazing weekend everyone!!!

Oh hey, that's right, I write a blog....

As I am coming out of a stomach bug, mother's day weekend and the final days before I walk 40 miles I suddenly realized it has been 15 days since my last post!

Good lord!!  Is anyone left to read this?  Probably not...  Well I have much to write about but sadly excel and power point are winning out at work this week.  So in true half arse fashion here are some pics I have been taking in May. They range from cute babies, rainy days, the NERDIST show live, spectating at the Tough Mudder, Gin Tasting, The Avengers, to finally making kale chips!  Think of it as a wordless post and a taste of posts to come...

Sorry be back soon I promise!!
