A Blogger Filled Weekend Part 1

This past weekend was one of the first times I have really felt like an actual blogger. Not only did I have someone NOT in my family tell me that they read and love my blog but I was also lucky enough to attend  3 Boston Blogger Based events!!  I know 3!!!

The Boston Blogger community is an amazing group of bloggers and local companies who support each other and love to gather around great events, food and people!  The weekend was so jam packed with foodie goodness that I am going to break it up into several posts... I HIGHLY suggest you make haste to these places!

First lets do a quick time line of my weekend....

Friday: ship visit in Portsmouth --> drive to Whole Foods in Cambridge for event --> Head to the Fairmont Copley for annual Fancy Fest with friends.
My office view on last week!
Saturday: Brunch with Boston Brunchers at Temple Bar in Cambridge

Sunday: Brunch again with Boston Brunchers at the Harvard Common Press --> Paint Bar Birthday Party in Newtonville.

Yeah, I feel like I need a vacation from my weekend!

First up was a great night at the Whole Foods on River Street in Cambridge. The knowledgeable staff welcomed local bloggers into the store to taste local cheeses, wines, beers, apps and desserts.
Lots of bloggers in a tiny room....

Mike from the Cheese Department might be the most knowledgeable person EVER when it comes to all things Dairy.  To top it off, he was so nice and sincere!  Where do they find people like that?!?

Lots of local wines, Cavas and beers to try out.  Cisco Brewers were also on hand.  You know I was in line for a tasting of my favorite beer: Grey Lady (and I may have bought a 6pack for the apartment)

The octopus was actually my favorite item of the night!  Full of fresh flavor and not chewy at all.

There was also a scavenger hunt that I really had fun completing!  It was nice to actually find out where things are in the store and some of the programs that Whole Foods is involved with.
I met some great bloggers that night and even left with a sweet swag bag full of goodies from the store.
These were in the bag and I may or may not have inhaled this package in 2 days.... THAT GOOD!

From there I quickly crossed the Charles River back into town to meet up for the 5th Annual Fancy Fest at the Oak Bar!
Take note of the beer on the tray it comes with a PRETZEL!  That is classy!
Many moons ago my fabulous friends decided that instead of buying gifts for everyone that we should pick a night, get all dressed up and go out for fancy cocktails to ring in the holiday season.

It started with maybe 5 of us and this year we had 16 people!!!  It is officially a "must attend" event!

(so I may be wearing boots because I couldn't find my other black heel...welcome to my life!)
So 5 years later we are still heading over to the Oak Bar in the Fairmont Copley Hotel for fancy drinks, great live piano music and some of the best people watching in the city!  This year we even took it up a notch and had a suite to start off the night!  Thanks LV!!!

LV, Roommate and Me

Purty ladies all so sparkly!!!
We had such a great night and I can't say enough how much I look forward to this night every year.  I love the excuse to dress up and drink deliciously yummy cocktails.  I always feel like I have entered another era when I am at the Oak Bar.

If you are visiting the city or a regular Bostonian, I highly suggest popping in for a drink.  You really get a sense of what Boston was like years ago.  The ambiance, staff and cocktails are an experience you will not soon forget.

Up next Brunch at Temple Bar and Brunch at the Harvard Common Press!
