Ships and Shamrocks

Ok so I may or may not have several draft posts in the works... Life has just taken over and I haven't really had the writing bug the past few weeks.  Here is hoping this post gets me back in to my groove.

This past weekend I went from a ship visit in Chelsea to kicking off St. Patty's day by running the Annual Ras na hEireann USA5k in Somerville.

My Saturday started bright and early with a trip over the Tobin to Chelsea.  One of our ships was in port dropping off road salt (hopefully for next winter!).  I will gladly admit I LOVE when ships come into town and I can be on board within minutes from leaving my apartment!

The weather was amazing! It was a perfect day to check out this ship who recently left a shipyard period for repairs and cosmetic upkeep.
Good morning Boston!
Anyone have a lime?
Arr Arr Arr (Please say in your best "Tim the Tool Man Taylor" voice!) Big Engine!!!
Walking this a few times counts as my gym time for the day!
Smile! The latest in Shipyard Sheik Fashion!

After a lovely day on the ship I called it an early night because I had the race first thing on Sunday!

Alaina met me at the house and we were off on the Red Line to Somerville.  I am pretty sure by the time our train arrived in Davis Square the WHOLE Train was there for the race.

Our Running crew and our super excellent bag keeper Karen! (Thank you soo much Karen!!)
Not that my face is still beet red from running or anything!
Alaina sporting her pre-race excitement (this was her first race!!!)
A not so caffeinated me humoring the camera girl....
Sligo Pub - My un-official finish line!!!
And we are off and running!! (Actually this is right after mile 2)
With over 6000 runners the Finish line was a bit congested......
After a very tasty Harpoon Ale we tried to discreetly make our way out of Sligo (we failed miserably at that!)over to Gargoyles on the Square for Brunch with the Boston Brunchers!

AMAZING Bloody Mary!

Fresh donuts with a blueberry Bailey's sauce!!!!
Huevos Rancheros with beans and tortilla.  YUMMY!!

I am not really a sweet's person when it comes to breakfasts.. I love salty and savory dishes So I went with the eggs and salsa.  My egg was perfectly cooked and the beans had just the right amount of spice to them.

The restaurant was packed when we arrived so it did take a while to seat us but the coffee and tea self serve area made the wait do-able. I will give kudos to the staff though, they were gracious and attentive throughout the afternoon.  It was also wonderful to finally put faces to many of the wonderful ladies I follow on twitter!

Overall it was an amazing weekend in town!  I am looking forward to a 2nd race this weekend in Southie before the Parade!

Anyone else running or coming in for it?
