NYE 2011 & The Russell House Tavern!

Hopefully you don't feel like he looks this a.m.!

If you are like me then right now you are rocking your favorite sweats while sipping strong coffee, catching up on DVR'd shows and thinking you really should be cleaning your apartment but MUST catch up on your Google Reader first (seriously, what did we all do before Google Reader?!)

So in an attempt to feel somewhat productive this a.m. I thought I would recap last nights amazing dinner with friends at a new favorite Tavern of mine.  The Russell House Tavern was a perfect choice for a low key NYE dinner with amazing food.  Thanks to Bianca for choosing such a great hidden jewel!  Here is a blurb about their style from the website:

"Today, Russell House Tavern continues the Harvard Square tradition of local enterprise as a New American Tavern serving seasonally-inspired, classic dishes from New England and beyond. An inviting, multi-level space adorned with vintage photographs of the Square, Russell House Tavern specializes in artisanal fare served alongside carefully hand-crafted cocktails and a distinctive collection of all-American wines and craft beers."

For NYE the Tavern had a Pre-fixe 3 course menu and the hardest part was choosing what to get!  From roasted duck & parsnip soup to carrot cake bread pudding the options where too delicious not to sample from other people's plates!!  I finally chose the Roasted duck with crispy garlic bread wafers and a cherry jam for a first course.  My main course was a Venison Beef Stew w/ wilted Kale (this was AMAZING!!!!) and for dessert I ordered a warm carrot cake bread pudding with vanilla ice cream.  The best part of this was the cream cheese layer surprise at the bottom of the cup!!!  Nom nomm nommm!!!!

mmmmm Duck!

Awful picture but this Venison Stew was perhaps the best thing I have eaten in months!  AMAZING!!!!!!

Bianca's duo of beef that was also ridiculously tasty

Another bad picture but again a dessert for the record books! Warm ooey gooey carrot cake heaven!!

Bianca's Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. Light & refreshing!

Free Champagne Toast (It was actually quite tasty for a free toast!)

Downstairs at the Tavern  So festive!!!

Three gorgeous ladies rockin' our free NYE headbands
So what can I say about the Tavern besides it is quickly going to be a place that I am a regular at!  The food and atmosphere was great and the service was ok (totally understandable on such a crazy night).  I would love to go back and explore their extensive regular dining & cocktail menu.

Ok, Ok this foodie is way past due for getting herself up adn out for the day!  I have another family holiday party to get too!

Happy New Year everyone!!!
